HOW TO LOG IN
There are 2 ways to log in:
- You will receive an email from Canvas once you are officially registered as a student. Click on the Red Mark in the picture and Log in ID will appear. This is your school ID as well as your personal Canvas ID (Canvas ID=Student ID) Temporary password for Canvas is 12345678 (please change after registering) For example, if your school ID is 1234567: Canvas log in ID: 1234567, Password: 12345678

Enter ptsa.instructure.com in the internet address window (Chrome or Firefox recommended)Enter your student ID and password in the log in window. For example, if your school ID is 1234567: Student ID: 1234567, Password: 12345678
Once you log in, you will see the below screen. If the course you selected is correct, click the green “Accept” button or go to the Dashboard to select and confirm the correct course.
Basics of studying using Canvas… Use the “Modules” in the left Menu bar and follow the instructions. Other sections like "Assignment", "Discussions", "Quizzes" will not be needed when studying. You can think of them as “storage” for the Modules. Everything you need to communicate with the professor is in the Modules. You can go into the Modules to watch lectures, join discussions, and submit assignments.
Watching Lecture Videos
Click “Modules”
- For example, click on “Module 2 Videos” (Titles may vary depending on the lecture)

Click on the video and what the lecture.
Submitting Assignments

Click on Modules

Click on Module 2 Assignment (Title may vary depending on the lecture)

Click “Submit Assignment”

Professors may choose to use “File upload” or “Text Entry
Below screen will appear if you chose File Upload, where you can upload the assignment file. Click on “Choose File” to look for the assignment file on your desktop to upload as you would attach documents on emails.
After selecting File Upload or Text Entry, click “Submit Assignment” to complete the submission. Important thing to remember is that all lectures, discussions, and assignment submissions is done in the Modules.
Change Password

Click on Account, then Settings

Click on “Edit Settings”

Check the box in the red box shown below
Enter the current password in “Old password” and use your own password in "New Password" and "Confirm Password" Then click “Update Settings”
Checking your Grades
You can check on grades and submission status. This will depend on if professor has graded your assignments or not.
